SiteUp – Track a Site's Availability
Everyone that set up his or her personal website knows that it is not exactly an easy task. Once you’re done creating your website, you undoubtedly expect internet users to visit it and access whatever information you posted on your website. After all, what’s the point of creating a website if you’re not going to le anyone see it?
Internet users will be able to visit your website – as long as it is up and running. The simple truth of the matter is that from time to time something will happen and the site will become inaccessible. You need to know when this sort of thing happens, you need to be warned. Specialized software applications can help. In particular, a software application called SiteUp developed by Xequte Software.
The first thing you are going to love about SiteUp is that it is freeware. If you want to keep track of your site’s availability without spending a dime, then SiteUp is the application for you. Downloading the app will take but a moment since it weighs in at about 0.5MB. Installing it on your computer will also take a but a moment as you only need to click through the setup wizard.
Once up and running, you can configure SiteUp to monitor one or several sites. The software will automatically check to see if the site or sites are available. Should the site be unavailable, SiteUp will prompt you.
What I liked the most about this free piece of software is that there is no limit to the number of sites it can keep track of. I can use it to track my personal site, my blog, some of the sites I visit most often, and the competition’s sites. I can also set up SiteUp to check the sites’ availability at a specific interval of time.
For the site admin that needs to ensure a website is always up and running, this piece of software is a must-have.
